Bring your: license or ID and renewal notice letter so you can easily scan the letter’s barcode; or manually enter your driver’s license or state ID number and renewal notice PIN at the kiosk.

Fees

In addition to the renewal costs, kiosks charge a $4.95 processing fee and a 2.25% credit card fee (if applicable).

A Fast-Lane is a self-service kiosk that Illinois residents can use to access select DMV-related services to skip a trip to the DMV.

During the current phase of the pilot, you can renew your vehicle registration (obtain a sticker), driver’s license or state ID card.

If you have misplaced your renewal notice letter, you can call (800) 252-8980 to obtain the information required at a kiosk.

You will also need to bring an accepted form of payment.

The pilot phase of the Fast-Lane kiosk initiative will offer services in English and Spanish. Additional languages will be added in future phases.

What will I receive at the end of my transaction? Arrow down

For standard vehicle registration renewals, your registration sticker will print immediately. If you are eligible for a new license plate, you’ll receive a temporary sticker to apply to your current plate, and your new sticker and plate will arrive in the mail within 15 business days.

For driver’s license and state ID renewals, you’ll receive a temporary paper driver’s license or state ID. Your new driver’s license or state ID will arrive in the mail within 15 business days.
